Dokploy pairs a web dashboard with Docker and Traefik, and it can build applications directly from source with Nixpacks, Railpack, or buildpacks. Docker Swarm adds multi-node replication, while integrated monitoring, backups, AI-assisted log analysis, MCP automation, and enterprise governance make it a much broader platform than a simple Docker panel.

Miren makes the same no-Kubernetes promise with a different operational model. Push your code and Miren builds it, stores the image in its built-in registry, and autoscales it with traffic. What Dokploy does well

Dokploy takes a capable, Docker-based approach to self-hosted deployment. It can build straight from a repository with Nixpacks, Railpack, or buildpacks, while also supporting Dockerfiles and Docker Compose. Docker Swarm provides multi-node replication, Traefik handles routing, and the dashboard includes monitoring plus database and volume backups to S3-compatible storage. Its community now spans more than 37,000 GitHub stars, nearly 3,000 forks, and over 370 contributors. Recent releases also add AI-assisted log and build-error analysis, an MCP server, a comprehensive CLI, and enterprise options for SSO, SCIM, custom roles, and audit logs.

Where Dokploy falls short

Dokploy removes the need to write a Dockerfile for many applications, but Docker and Swarm remain the operational model underneath. Multi-node deployments require a registry and deliberate replica configuration, while backups require an external S3-compatible destination. Its more advanced identity and governance features — including SSO, SCIM, fine-grained roles, and audit logs — are part of the commercial Enterprise edition rather than the open-source self-hosted edition.

How Miren is different

Dokploy and Miren can both deploy source code without a Dockerfile. The difference is in how they operate: Dokploy exposes a web control plane over Docker and Swarm, while Miren provides a compact runtime and CLI with traffic-based autoscaling. Miren's scheduler places stateless workloads across distributed runners and its built-in registry distributes images without a separate registry to configure. With Miren Cloud, you also get team authentication and access control without setting up additional infrastructure.
